Our Lady of Fatima Parish

The Our Lady of Fatima Parish was established in October 21, 1972. The roots of the Parish may be traced to the time when Bro. Ted Mahinay and the late Bros. Jun Mesina, Pete Paredes, and Major Venancio Velasco initiated the celebration of the Holy Eucharist in Urduja Village (formerly Zabarte Subdivision) in 1968. Jesuit Priest Rev. Fr. Juan Sanz celebrated the Mass at the House of Kakayahan, a home for paraplegics.

On April 16, 1968, the Chapel of the Sacred Heart of Jesus at Urduja Village was constructed through the efforts of the officers and members of the Homeowners Association. Urduja became the center of the new Parish on January 18, 1973 with Rev. Fr. Manuel Gabriel as the first Parish Priest. Due to lack of a rectory, Fr. Manny stayed at the Christ the King Chapel rectory in BF Homes, Caloocan. Thus, Christ the King Chapel, the seat of the Parish and the Sacred Heart of Jesus Chapel, became merely a Sub-Parish.

When Rev. Fr. Manny Ligon took over in 1978 as Parish Priest, the Parish was composed of twenty (20) Sub-Parishes from Kaybiga to Tala and Bagong Silang, Caloocan City.

A year after, the Sacred Heart Sub-Parish was converted into a Parish by the late Jaime Cardinal L. Sin and renamed as “Our Lady of Fatima Parish” with Rev. Fr. John Keenan, a Columban, as Parish Priest. The construction of the Parish church started and was completed and inaugurated in 1983.

Filipino Diocesan Priest Rev. Fr. Larry Toledo took over in 1986 as Parish Priest. From 1987 to 1991, six Columban Fathers served as Parish Priest with Rev. Fr. John Keenan as the last to serve the Parish. OLFP was turned over to the Archdiocese of Manila on April 1, 1997 with Rev. Fr. Leonardo M. Jacob as Parish Priest.

Cardinal Sin issued two Circulars subdividing the Our Lady of Fatima Parish into three Parishes on May 23 and November 1998. Chapels were created for the Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage and Sto. Nino Parish from the Sampaguita Subdivision and Congress Village, respectively.

On September 11, 2002, Fr. Leo was transferred to Sto. Rosario Parish in Dampalit, Malabon and was replaced by Rev. Fr. Noel B. Azupardo as Parish Priest. Fr. Noel was transferred to San Bartolome Parish in San Bartolome, Novaliches, Quezon City after the first reshuffling of the Diocesan Clergy on June 1, 2007. Rev. Fr. Rudy M. Tulibas from Sacred Heart Parish, Kaybiga, Caloocan City replaced Fr. Noel then as the Parish Priest.

The ground breaking ceremonies for a Parish Pastoral Center was held on October 3, 2009 under Fr. Rudy. Completed three years later, it was blessed by Bishop Antonio R. Tobias in February, 2012.

Rev. Fr. Daniel Allan Samonte was the Parish Priest (June 2013) before the June 2019 General Reshuffle where Rev. Fr. Aristeo De Leon took seat as new Parish Priest. The feast day of the Parish is on May 13.
