On October 3, 1991, the first missionaries of the Sons of Divine Providence Congragation came to the Philippines. This was through the Italian priests Fr. Luigi Piccoli, FDP and Fr. Oreste Ferrari, FDP who arrived in Payatas. They painstakingly defied barriers in culture and language until they successfully established the Mother of Divine Providence Parish on January 1992. The feast of the Parish coincides with its patron, which is on November 20. Fr. Luigi and Fr. Oreste became the first Parish Priest and Parochial Vicar, respectively.
The Mother of Divine Providence Parish has been graced by various foreign religious over time. As such, there have been six Parish Priests since it was established. These were Fr. Angelo Falardi, FDP (Dec. 24, 1993), Fr. Orlando Roberto Norniella, FDP (Dec. 08, 1997), Fr. Luciano Ariel Felloni, FDP (Dec. 08, 2002), Fr. Martin Estanislao Mroz, FDP (2006), and, for the second time, Fr. Orlando Roberto Norniella, FDP (June 2008).
Notable highlights in the physical development of the parish came in 2002 and 2007. It was in 2002 that the construction of the church began. Then Bishop of Novaliches Most Rev. Teodoro C. Bacani, Jr., DD, blessed and consecrated the churh on June 30, 2002. Meanwhile, it was in 2007 that the belfry and grotto of the Parish were completed. Both were blessed by Bishop Antonio R. Tobias, DD on November 20, 2007, coincidingwith the Parish’s 15th Anniversary.
Currently, Fr. Orlando has began to establish the Basic Ecclesial Communities (BEC) in the entire Parish together with his Parochial Vicar Fr. Kim Andrea Tae Gun, FDP and co-missionaries from the Sons of Divine Providence Fr. Facundo Mela, FDP from Argentina, Fr. Joseph Nguyen Van Cu, FDP from Vietnam, and Fr. Stefan Bulai, FDP from Romania. Parishioners and the laity through the Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) work hand in hand with the priests of the Parish.
The Parish has 13 active chapels, which comprise the Parish community in Payatas Areas A and B. The Chapels of St. Benedict, Immaculate Conception, Ascension of our Lord, Sto. Niño, and Our Lady of Fatima are all located in Payatas-Area A. Meanwhile, the Chapels of Nuestro Jesus Nazareno, St. Joseph the Worker (Litex), St. Joseph the Spouse (Molave), Sagrada Familia, Our Lady of Lourdes, Holy Trinity, San Isidro Labrador, and Sta.
