Christ the King Parish

The Christ the King Parish was established on January 7, 1983 by the His Eminence the late Jaime Cardinal Sin under the Columban Missionaries with Rev. Fr. John Leydon, who became its parish priest for 12 years.

On March 12, 1995, the Columban Missionaries turned over the Parish to the Diocese of Caloocan. Rev. Fr. Jaime Z. Lara was assigned as its first Filipino priest. At the same time, the Kaybiga and Bagbaguin areas of Caloocan City were detached from the Parish resulting in the reorganization of the latter.

The Parish created seven sub-parishes namely Sto. Kristo (Llano), Holy Family (Sunriser Subd.), Mary Help of Christians (Silanganan Subd.), St. Joseph the Worker (Dolmar Subd.), Our Lady of La Naval (BF Homes III), and St. Martin de Pores (Cefels Subd.). The geographical composition of Christ the King is very different from other parishes in the Diocese of Novaliches. The Parish is comprised of four Barangays, namely 169 (BF Homes), 170 (Cefels Subd), 168 (Deparo), and 167 (Llano). Each subdivision within the barangay erected its own chapel.

Three Parish Priests took over after Fr. Lara. These were Rev. Fr. Rudy Tulibas on May 1997; Rev. Fr. Christopher V. Santos on March 27, 2005; and Rev. Fr. Tom F. Flores, Jr. on March 27, 2007.

During Fr. Lara’s term, an organizational planning system was implemented along with the first workshop for parish leaders. A permanent residence for the parish priest was also built as the priest used to stay at a lease house offered by the BF Homes developer.

A church building committee was formed to plan and raise funds for the construction of a new church, convent, and multi-purpose building. Through Fr. Rudy’s efforts the construction of the new church began along with the creation of the Parish Formation Team (PPI) which launched various formations such as the BEC Orientation programs and Parish Renewal Experience (PREX). Under Fr. Tom, the finishing touches of the Church were completed.

The Parish, which celebrates its feast day every 3rd Sunday of November, was put under the management of the Missionaries of the Holy Family last June 2013.
