Corpus Christi Parish

In 1990, the growing Catholic Community of Palmera Homes 1, 2, 3 & 5 built a small wooden structure to serve as their chapel at the middle of the subdivision. Regular churchgoers remember Msgr. Ramon Vera who used to preside on their Sunday Masses. This was when the chapel was under the pastoral care of Our Lady of Mercy Shrine in Novaliches.

With the creation of the Divine Savior Parish on August 28, 1993, Corpus Christi became a part of the new parish along with other subdivisions / villages that surround North Fairview.

Soon enough, the Corpus Christi Chapel Pastoral Council had formed a vigorous worship community with a full complement of church mandated organizations: Extraordinary Minister of the Holy Communion, Altar Servers, Lectors / Commentators’ Group, Mother Butlers Guild and Music Ministry, among others.

In 2007, the Divine Savior parishioners welcomed Rev. Fr. Marlou V. Lemaire as Parish Priest. Upon the recommendation of Fr. Marlou, Bishop Antonio R. Tobias created by virtue of Decree 2012-298 the Corpus Christi Parish. On July 08, 2012, the official and formal establishment of Corpus Christi as a parish was realized during the Eucharistic Celebration officiated by Rev. Fr. Antonio E. Labiao, Vicar General for Pastoral Management of the Diocese of Novaliches. Rev. Fr. Dominic Pham, ICM, a 49-year old Vietnamese-American religious priest became the first Parish Priest of Corpus Christi.

The solemnity is celebrated on the Sunday after the Solemnity of the Holy Trinity. The present Parish is entrusted to the patronage of Blessed Pedro Calungsod who was elevated to sainthood in a canonization ceremony on October 21, 2012 in Rome, Italy.

Fr. Dominic grew up in a Catholic family. His father was the President of the Parish Pastoral Council so it was not surprising to see the young Dominic as an altar boy and as choir member. He was seventeen (17) years old when he escaped Vietnam with an older sister to settle in the United States. He entered the seminary to fulfill his childhood dream of becoming a priest.

He was ordained in 1995. He served several parishes in Louisiana and Texas. He arrived in the Philippines on August 2011 to serve Corpus Christi as its Parochial Vicar. The new Corpus Christi Parish includes the Holy Family Chapel in Palmera Homes Phase 4, Our Lady of Fatima Chapel in Northridge Park Subdivision and Geneva Gardens.
