Before the SSCC (Congregation of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary) took up the Ang Muling Pagkabuhay ng Ating Panginoon Parish in 2003, the Bagong Silang vicinity was known as a notorious place for various crimes and other types of antisocial activities.
A decade after the SSCC came, the scenario has changed with the people involved in various Parish-spearheaded pastoral and developmental activities. The Parish has been a relocation area for informal settlers for more than 30 years now. Some 35,000 people belong to the parish while the total Bagong Silang population is above 65,000.
Envisioned to develop Gospel-based communication solutions to the community problems, several projects were undertaken such as the scholarship and tutorial program for elementary and college students, a parish pharmacy administered by 15 volunteers; a feeding program for malnourished children, livelihood programs such as cardmaking, and a savings and loan program.
Bible study, faith sharing and Basic Ecclesiastical Community (BEC) formation programs are some of the pastoral activities. Muling Pagkabuhay is the only parish the SSCC has in the Philippines. The feast day of the Parish is the Resurrection of Our Lord.
