The Commission is a study, research and pastoral ministry that seeks to help in the task of new evangelization in matters of non-Catholic religious movements and matters of spiritual and religious extraordinary phenomena to provide adequate pastoral response to the needs of God’s people.
The Commission has two offices:
A. The Novaliches Office on Religious Movements, Visions and Phenomena (NORM), the study, investigative and research arm of the Commission, initiates programs that address issues regarding certain religious, ethical, and spiritual groups, communities and practices that deviate in some degree from the Roman Catholic traditional forms and/or doctrines. It is the specific function of NORM to create ad hoc commissions to properly study and/or investigate private or popular claims of visions, locutions and apparitions and other extraordinary phenomena that are spiritual and/or religious in nature occurring within the Diocese of Novaliches and to implement measures as per approval to this effect by the Bishop of Novaliches.
B. The Novaliches Office on Exorcism (NOX), the pastoral arm of the Commission, is engaged in the healing ministry of liberation and exorcism. It seeks to educate and equip the faithful in the face of the spiritual warfare they wage against demonic attacks. It also seeks to train and/or assist priests in carrying out their spiritual duty in safeguarding the spiritual life of their flock and their individual members through the administration of minor and major exorcisms.
