The Diocese of Novaliches Social Communications and Media Ministry (SocComm Nova) will be holding a Basic Seminar on Divorce, Same Sex Marriage, and the Sanctity of Marriage for the members of its Core Group this Saturday, February 24, 2018.
Entitled, “The Third Party”, the Seminar tackles hot issues facing the Philippine Catholic Church today: the Sexual Orientation or Gender Identity (SOGI) Bill of transgender Rep. Geraldine Roman and the Divorce Bills pushed by different legislators.
The Third Party also serves as the 1st Lenten Recollection of the Ministry, which centers on “A Deeper Look At True Christian Love”, that’s tied up to the Seminar’s topic. Retreat Master for the Recollection is SocComm Nova Director Rev. Fr. Ambrosio Nonato Legaspi, who will also give Talk 3, “Upholding The Sanctity of Marriage Amidst Our Challenges Today”, of the Seminar.
A very timely seminar, renowned speakers from Catholic Circles will be conducting the talks on Divorce and Same Sex Marriage, particularly Radio Veritas’ CathoLink Section Head Mr. Adrian Tambuyat, OP and Filipinos For Life President Ms. Anna Cosio.
The Third Party will be the launch pad for the series of catechetical videos SocComm Nova has lined-up for release in Social Media this 2018 beginning with the Third Party Pocketfilm, which mainly stars Kristong Hari Parish SocComm Coordinator Charles Bataan and Shrine of Our Lady of Mercy Parish SocComm Member Angelica Abagao.
Other talents in the film are Divine Savior Parish SocComm Member Erwin Balasa and Holy Cross Parish SocComm Coordinator Shirly Benedictos. The pocketfilm is the collaborative effort of other SocComm Coordinators: Christ The King Parish-Filinvest 2 Maria Lourdes Nario and Nuestra Senora De La Paz Y Buen Viaje Parish Maria Mercedes Robles. A Theology of the Body pocketfilm will be released midyear 2018 by SocComm Nova alongside a Pocketfilm Festival that’s open to the Public.
In addition, the announcement of the Ministry’s new Diocesan Lay Assistant Coordinators will be made during the event along with the candidates for the Diocesan Delegation to the National Media Convention that will be held in Davao this August 2018.
The Third Party Seminar is the third in a series of trainings designed to better equip SocComm Nova’s Core Group–composed of Parish SocComm Coordinators and select Parish SocComm members who attended the Communications Camp–in addressing social issues with the perspective of the Catholic Church. It is meant to enforce the role of the Ministry as an unconventional bridge to the Parish with the other Commissions and Ministries of the Diocese that forms a symbolic Cross that links to one and all through formation programs given by the other Commissions and Ministries necessary in the holistic honing of SocComm Nova’s members as true communicators of the Catholic Church.
Previously, SocComm Nova conducted a Basic Seminar on Catholic Social Teachings conducted by the Caritas Nova Formators Team last October 20-21, 2017 and a Basic Seminar on RH Law, Abortion, and the Sanctity of Life, entitled “The Choice”, conducted by the Diocesan Commission on Family and Life’s pool of speakers last December 8, 2017. The Third Party Seminar is the first formation seminar that will be held by SocComm Nova for 2018. (~Minnie Agdeppa)
