Receiving God’s forgiveness is one of the many highlights of the upcoming 4th World Apostolic Congress on Mercy (WACOM4) that will be held in the Philippines for the first time from January 16-20, 2017.
According to Parish Priest and Rector of the National Shrine and Parish of Padre Pio in Batangas Rev. Fr. Joselin Gonda, the Sacrament of Reconciliation will be made available to WACOM4 delegates on the entire day of Day 3, January 18, 2017.
“Ang pinakamahalagang gagawin sa maghapon ay ang pagpapatawad ng kasalanan o forgiveness of God,” revealed Fr. Gonda during the WACOM 4 Press Conference held at Arzobispado de Manila last January 3, 2017.
He added that more than 200 priests and bishops will be on hand to hear the confession of delegates from the entire country and all over the world.
“Maghapong gagawin ang pagkukumpisal,” he further said. “Kasabay nito ang mga panayam tungkol sa awa at pagpapatawad ng Diyos at pagpapalabas ng isang maikling play tungkol sa buhay ni Padre Pio.”
Fr. Gonda explained that Padre Pio is the symbol of God’s mercy as he spent a lot of time hearing confessions and, thus, bestowing God’s forgiveness. Entitled “The Life of Padre Pio,” the play is directed by Nestor Torre and sponsored by the Padre Pio Foundation headed by Boots Anson-Roa.
On the said 3rd Day of the Congress, Bishop Emeritus of Novaliches Most Rev. Teodoro Bacani, D.D. will talk about, “Remembering and Celebrating the Mercy of God As A Forgiven and Forgiving Community.” While Bishop of Boac Most Rev. Antonio Maralit, D.D. and WACOM1 Asian Continental Coordinator Msgr. Josefino Ramirez will give testimonies.
This is followed by the Celebration of the Holy Eucharist by Archbishop Emeritus of Manila His Eminence Gaudencio Cardinal Rosales, D.D. with Archbishop of Lipa Most Rev. Ramon Arguelles, D.D. as Homilist.
The five-day Congress, which centers on the theme, “Communion in Mercy; Mission for Mercy,” will bring delegates to the Country’s different holy places, including the Manila Cathedral and the Pontifical University of Santo Tomas in Manila; and the National Shrine of the Divine Mercy in Marilao, Bulacan.A
