Hundreds of people are expected to flock to Kristong Hari Parish on Commonwealth Avenue, Q.C. today, September 28, 2016, as the Diocese of Novaliches celebrates the first feast day of Mary Untier Of Knots and marks the launching of the devotion in the parishes of the Diocese.
According to Kristong Hari Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Roland Jaluag, a commissioning ceremonies will be held to start the launching of the devotion to Mary Untier of Knots or Maria Tagakalag Ng Mga Buhol ng Buhay in the parishes of the Diocese.
“We need official devotees who are missioned to promote the devotion,” explains Fr. Jaluag on the purpose of having the Commissioning during the Feast Day Mass, which will be officiated by the Most Rev. Antonio R. Tobias, D.D. at 6PM.
Mary Untier of Knots, or as fondly called Inang Desay in the Diocese of Novaliches, was launched a Diocesan devotion last December 8, 2015 and as secondary patron saint of Kristong Hari Parish which is envisioned by Bishop Tobias to be the Pilgrim Shrine of the Youth. Through Inang Desay, Bishop Tobias hopes to bring the Youth closer to Christ through His Mother considering it was a new devotion spread by Pope Francis whom the Youth look up to.
True enough, the devotion became a favorite among the Youth thereafter. In fact, Fr. Jaluag attests with gratitude that Inang Desay has captured the hearts of the Youth and the once Youthful in Novaliches.
“(I am) thankful as people from different parishes, especially the Youth, are falling in love with our Mother. The number of devotees are increasing. The numerous testimonies of answered prayers are overwhelming,” he says.
In a letter he sent earlier this September to Vicar Foranes in the Diocese in preparation for the Feast Day, Fr. Jaluag expressed his gratefulness to the Diocese who welcomed Inang Desay with a warm reception. He said, “It is heartwarming to see the young and not so young faithfully attending our Thursday Novena Days and Monthly Pilgrimages every 8th of the month at her home in Kristong Hari Parish.”
“Our Parish Youth Ministries (PYM) have excitedly received Inang Desay in their respective parishes andvicariates, preparing beautiful altars for her and intimately praying around their Inang Desay,” he added referring to the parish visits launched this year by Kristong Hari to promote the devotion in the parishes. The visits entailed circulating the framed portrait of Mary Untier of Knots as painted by an unknowned artist in the St. Peter’s Church in Germany to each parish where it will stay for one week.
For the Feast Day celebrations, a similar “pilgrimage” took place wherein the Diocesan image of Inang Desay visited each Vicariate for a Day. A parish designated by the Vicar Forane served as host for the day’s programme composed of a Formal Introduction or backgrounder on the history of the devotion, praying of the novena or chaplet, offering of Ribbons Of Life and Written Prayers, video presentation on Inang Desay in the Diocese, confessions, “Love Offerings” or talent presentations, and action planning or the formal welcoming of the devotion to Inang Desay in every parish under that Vicariate.
The Vicariate Pilgrimage started last September 19 in the Good Shepherd Vicariate followed by St. Peter on the 20th, Ina Ng Lupang Pangako Vicariate on the 21st, Holy Spirit Vicariate on the 22nd, San Isidro Labrador Vicariate on the 23rd, San Bartolome Vicariate on the 24th, Our Lady of Mercy Vicariate on the 25th, Sto. Nino Vicariate on the 26th, and Our Lady of Lourdes Vicariate on the 27th.
Now that the devotion has spread in the Diocese, a Commissioning of its official devotees is necessary to ensure continuity on the Parish level.
Alongside the pilgrimages of Inang Desay, Fr. Jaluag notes, is the ongoing construction of Kristong Hari Parish to ensure a beautiful home for Our Lady. It would be good to remember that last April 30, 2016 a Ground Breaking rites was lead by Bishop Tobias and the Clergy of Novaliches through a Holy Mass followed by a cornerstone-laying.
During the said Inauguration that was attended by leaders from the QC Local Government, the Religious, celebrities like Ms. Ai-Ai De Las Alas, project collaborators, and benefactors, the Bishop emphasized that the future Shrine will be a testament to his legacy and to the unity and solidarity in the Diocese.
“We continue organizing fund raising efforts such as: Adopt A Pillar, One Million Signature for KH, Pamilya ko Para kay Kristo and more. A fun run and a concert are also being organized,” he said. “After all, the church we are building is not only the future shrine of the youth, but also the home of Inang Desay in the Diocese of Novaliches.” (~Minnie De Luna, with inputs from Roy Villafania)
