The Diocese of Novaliches celebrated the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary with an Overnight Eucharistic Adoration held simultaneously in its Jubilee Shrines and Churches last June 3-4, 2016.
Organized by the Secular Institute of the Two Hearts (SITH), the Overnight Eucharistic Adoration began at 10PM in most of the Jubilee Shrines–St. Peter Parish Shrine of Leaders, Santuario De San Vicente De Paul Parish and Shrine of the Poor, Shrine of the Our Lady of Mercy, and Our Lady of the Annunciation and Shrine of the Incarnation–except in the Cathedral Shrine and Parish of the Good Shepherd, which immediately began after the 7PM Holy Mass.
The SITH Sisters, who divided themselves into groups assigned into each Jubilee Shrine, invited speakers who shared different points of reflection on the Hearts of Jesus and Mary in this Jubilee Year of Mercy.
One of the speakers was Bro. Angelus Zafra of the Secular Male Institute of the Two Hearts (SMITH) who hopped from one Diocesan Jubilee Shrine to the other to give his sharing on the Love of God. Starting off with St. Peter Parish and Shrine of Leaders, his last jump off point was the Santuario De San Vicente De Paul where he joined the rest of his brothers and their former National Superior, Rev. Fr. Mark Matthias Mandreza who was overseeing the Overnight Eucharistic Adoration there.
Fr. Mandreza explained in his homily during the Holy Mass that ended the Overnight Eucharistic Adoration at the Santuario De San Vicente De Paul the reason why the Solemnity of the Immaculate Heart of Mary is celebrated the day after the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. He said that, “We can only love Jesus perfectly through Mary…loving Jesus through the heart of Mary.”
As per schedule released in a letter to the Parishes of the Diocese last June 2 by Vicar General for Administration Msgr. Jesus Romulo Rañada, the Overnight Eucharistic Celebration includes the Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, a Benediction, a Marian Dawn Procession, and a Eucharistic Celebration.
The Marian Dawn Procession at the Santuario De San Vicente De Paul Parish and Shrine of Poor, however, was omitted due to the small number of people left during the last hour of the vigil. While many flocked to the Jubilee Shrines at the beginning of the vigil, people would come and go such that only a few remained in some Shrines before the scheduled Marian Procession and Holy Mass.
Msgr. Rañada, in the same letter, requested that the event, “be offered for the success of the Eucharistic Days of Mercy this coming June 11-13, 2016”. Coined as “Eucharistic Days of Mercy”, the Diocese will be holding a three-day celebration for the 75th Birthday of Bishop Tobias who requested to replicate in the Diocese of Novaliches the First Communion held in Cebu last 51st International Eurcharistic Congress (IEC2016).
As such, there will be a Diocesan wide celebration of First Holy Communion entitled, “Ang Katawan At Dugo Ni Kristo”, in all Parishes on a single on the afternoon of June 11, 2016. This is supported by a unified preaching on the Eucharist on June 12 in all Parishes and all Church Communities in the Diocese coined as “Ang Pagdiriwang Ng Eukaristiya: Eucharist In Focus”.
A symposium on God’s Mercy, the Eucharist, and the Priesthood was also organized for June 13, the Bishop’s birthday, to replicate the IEC2016 plenary sessions. The expert speakers for this event, which is regarded as the Clergy’s Annual Retreat, are St. Vincent School of Theology’s (SVST) Rev. Fr. Danny Pilaro, CM; Loyola School of Theology’s Rev. Fr. James Kroeger, MM; San Sebastian College-Recolletos’ Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Cruz, SThD; and the Diocese of Pasig’s Most Rev. Hubert Mylo Vergara, D.D.
Prior to the First Holy Communion, a Blessing of the La Mesa Dam and a Tree Planting activity in La Mesa Eco Park will take place on the mid-morning of June 11. This activity and the Holy Mass in Santuario De San Paulo in Casa Mila at 530PM on June 13 and the Dinner Reception that follows in the same venue are open to the “Public” through reservations with the Chancery Office.
