Last March 20 to April 1, 2016 at Dumaguete City, the National Association of Diocesan Chancellors of the Philippines (NADC) held its 12th National Convention of Diocesan Chancellors and Chancery Staff. The Diocese of Novaliches attended the event together with 53 other Archdioceses, Dioceses, Apostolic Vicariates, Prelatures, and Ordinariate. There were 93 delegates present, three of which were Diocese of Novaliches’ Chancelor Rev. Fr. Reynaldo Percival Flores, Vice Chancellor Rev. Fr. Tristan Jasper Laforteza, and Secretary of the Bishop Julius Panday.
This year’s host, the Diocese of Dumaguete, welcomed the delegates with a Eucharistic Celebration presided by its Ordinary, the Most Rev. Julito B. Cortes, D.D. After the Mass, a dinner followed where Rev. Fr. Carmelito “Jun” Limbaga, Jr., the Chancellor of Dumaguete, officially welcomed the participants to the “City of Gentle People”.
With this year’s theme as “Living Out Mercy in the Chancery Ministry”, the Most Rev. Nereo P. Odchimar, DD,
Bishop of Tandag, gave an overview on the new Motu Propio “Mitis Iudex Dominus Iesus” of Pope Francis. While the Most Rev. Virgilio Pablo S. David, DD, Bishop of the Diocese of Kalookan and at the same time Chairman of the CBCP Committee for the Cultural Heritage of the Church, talked about the importance of Archiving.
A new set of officers were also elected during the Convention. This was facilitated by the outgoing President and Chancellor of the Diocese of Daet Rev. Fr. Ronald Anthony P. Timoner. The new set of officers are: President, Rev, Fr. Francis Eugene A. Fadul of San Pablo Diocese; Vice President, Rev. Fr. Paul Ocfemia for Luzon, Rev. Fr. Alger Paña for Visayas, and Rev. Fr. Siegfred Dosdos for Mindanao; Treasurer, Fr. Oscar Andal; Auditor, Rev. Fr. Danny Nacpil; and Secretary, Ms. Bea Lim. Next year’s Convention will be held in Mindanao, in the Diocese of Dipolog.
