The Social Communications and Media Ministry of the Diocese of Novaliches (SocComm Nova) recently concluded it’s 1st Convention for Lay Members last March 18, 2016 at the Conference Room of the Chancery Office in Regalado Avenue, Q.C.
As part of its efforts to organize the Ministry in the Diocese, the 1st Convention for Lay Members was meant to cascade the Vision & Mission of the Social Communications and Media Ministry on a Vicariate level and to gather the feedback of Vicariate Media Ministry teams on the results of SocComm Nova’s Ministry Imagineering held last March 12, 2016 in the same venue.
The event expected to receive two lay representatives from each Vicariate’s Media Ministry team. However, there were only fifteen participants comprised of members of SocComm Nova’s Core Group and of representatives from four out of the 11 Vicariates of the Diocese of Novaliches. The low turnout was reflective of the need to establish the Media Ministry in each Parish and Vicariate, which the participants actually raised during the Open Forum / Workshop.
Due to this, participants were given an “assignment” by SocComm Nova Director Rev. Fr. Ambrosio Nonato Legaspi to create a “Culture of Communication” by cascading to their Vicar Foranes what they learned during the Convention and what is needed to be urgently done in their Vicariates, particularly the establishment of the Media Ministry in each Parish under each Vicariate and the creation of their respective Vicariate and Parish Facebook accounts along with their respective Parish Websites.
Fr. Nonnette offered the assistance of SocComm Nova to the Vicariates and Parishes should there be a need to give an orientation in their areas on the Ministry and in creating their websites and Facebook pages.
Regardless of the few attendees, the 1st Lay Convention was able to derive 19 suggested Vision Statements for SocComm Nova which will be subject to consultation and approval with the Clergy during their 1st Convention on March 29, 2016 (initially March 22). (~SocComm Nova)
