November 9, 2015, St. Peter Shrine— As part of the rotating regular meetings of Ugnayan ng Barangay at Simbahan (UBAS) Technical Working Group (TWG) in the National Capital Region (NCR), the Diocese of Novaliches welcomed members from the neighbouring Arch/dioceses such as Manila, Cubao, Pasig, and Malolos as well as partners from the Liga ng mga Barangay (LnB)- NCR, UBAS Project Management Office (PMO), and Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG)-NCR and Quezon City. Participants reported and shared their UBAS-related updates and plans for the next two months. Businesses arising also include organizing efforts among interfaith groups and Barangay Action Teams. The group’s initial conversations paved way to a more focused service delivery mechanism, mostly geared towards disaster preparedness, care for the environment, and the protection of women, children, and vulnerable adults. Rev. Fr. Antonio E. Labiao, Jr., Vicar General for Pastoral Affairs (and among the UBAS pioneers) facilitated the said meeting. The next one will be held at the Diocese of Caloocan where the team also looks forward to meeting their new Bishop, Bp. Pablo “Ambo” David, D.D., an UBAS advocate himself.
