Clergy Retreat 2015-Only Jesus Counts!
Fr. Aris de Leon
Last Sept 14 to 17, 2015, we were led to reflect on our Vocation by Fr. Jun Bagtas SJ at St. Paul Renewal Center in Alfonso Cavite.
The song “I Am Ever With You” from the album Himig Heswita set the tone of our retreat.
We traced back our calling in three periods. First, was from birth to our ordination; second, our first five years of priesthood and third, our sixth year up to the present. We came to realize in a deeper way that our calling is from God. And we were able to share this with one another which helped us to come to know better our brother priests. In our reflection we came up with different experiences wherein we felt joy, sadness, hope, and frustration but in the midst of all these is the realization that only Jesus counts.
Since we were gathered together, Fr. Jun de Peralta who attended the Conference on Vulnerable Children and Adults at Loyola School of Theology, Ateneo de Manila University took the opportunity to inform us of the new concern of the Pope about children and adults who are not only in need but who are vulnerable because of certain situations in the community and the society.
The Retreat was attended by the majority of the clergy who felt blessed, renewed and energized. We ended with the song “Give me Jesus” so that we can continue to share Jesus with one another and our parishioners.
