DioNova Youth to Celebrate Independence Day with Faith-Impelled Patriotism
By AC Wilson
June 12, 2015 marks the 117th Year of Philippine Independence or “Araw ng Kalayaan.” It is an annual national holiday where the country commemorates the country’s struggle for freedom, the perseverance of revolutionary leaders, and the very first time the Philippine flag was unfurled. For the Youth of the Diocese of Novaliches, especially those who are actively involved in the Public Affairs-related program iVote Para sa Kinabukasan, this is an opportune time to renew their faith-impelled solidarity and Christian response to love one’s native land.
A Youth Gathering entitled “Ako’y Tumugon sa Panawagan, Astig!” will be participated by at least two (2) youth leaders from each of the sixty-seven (67) parishes of the Diocese. The gathering shall showcase originally-composed and arranged music about service, love for country, and socio-political responsibility with sharing from the participating guests. There will also be small group activities where the participants can collaboratively reflect and brainstorm on both current issues, and the special role of the youth especially this coming election. The gathering will be held at Father Hofstee Building, Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Parish, Tala, Caloocan City. For further information, please feel free to reach Ela Rancio, iVote Youth Coordinator at 09175468288.
